High Voltage Low Power Inverter (HVLP) for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles

By far one of the most reliable, best selling controllers from the Sevcon range (now BorgWarner) - High Voltage Low Power (HVLP) Inverters are designed to drive vehicle auxiliaries, with the most popular choice for air-conditioning, compressors, fans and pumps control.

HVLP has a wide operating DC supply voltage range (200 V-800 V) and is typically used in systems rated between 5 kW and 20 kW.

Compatible with both Induction and PM Synchronous motors, sensor-less in many cases.
Supporting CAN and J1939 protocols, the HVLP may be set up to run standalone
or as a slave with commanded torque/speed over CANbus.

The HVLP has seen some design updates over the years, and there are 4 variants in production today:

  • Alpha build variant - older, but maintained as an option for system pin compatibility.
  • Beta build variant - the updated design with revised logic pinout.

All HVLP share a great feature set:

  • Operating voltage range 200 VDC-800 VDC
  • CAN Interface with CanOpen for calibration, and J1939 type control
  • Built in over-current, over-temperature protection
  • EMC to UNECE R10
  • Sensorless or position feedback with 0.25 to 0.6 gain resolvers, sin/cos encoders, or hall sensors.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes most products have a standard warranty, motors and controllers have extended warranty; used or second-hand products will not have warranty, but your purchase will still be protected. We would never sell you a product we have not inspected ourselves.

What happens if I don't like it?

If you are facing technical issues, let us help you first. We know how tricky it can be with wires, pins and complicated tools so let us see if we can figure it out first. In the chance that your product is defective, then you can use our returns process.
