A little about the eLION range
The Bosch Rexroth eLION range is a scalable, modular high-voltage and low-voltage electrification platform built for off-highway mobile working machines like construction, agricultural, and forestry vehicles. It covers power outputs from 20 kW to 230 kW (with peak power up to 400 kW) and features robust protection up to IP6K9K. The eLION range is designed with integrated functional safety, and engineered for enhanced productivity and performance.

The eLION DC/DC Converter EDCC1
DC/DC Converter EDCC1 provides reliable high-voltage to low-voltage power conversion for battery-electric, hybrid, and diesel-electric mobile machinery. Engineered for durability, safety, and seamless integration, the EDCC1 ensures a stable power supply for vehicle low-voltage systems while supporting the transition to more efficient and sustainable machine platforms.
The EDCC1 converts high-voltage battery power into 12 V or 24 V DC for the vehicle’s low-voltage boardnet, delivering up to 4 kW of power from a single unit. For applications with higher energy demands, up to four converters can be operated in parallel, providing a total output of up to 16 kW. This scalability allows machine manufacturers to tailor their power architecture to specific application requirements.
Built to operate in harsh off-highway environments, the converter features protection ratings up to IP6K7 and IP6K9K and maintains reliable performance in ambient temperatures ranging from-40°C to +85°C. Its rugged construction ensures dependable operation in construction, agricultural, mining, and material handling equipment exposed to dust, moisture, shock, and vibration.
For simple installation and integration, the EDCC1 incorporates a compact, high-power-density design with all connectors located on a single side of the housing. Poka-yoke connector technology and an integrated High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL) with passive detection further enhance installation safety and reduce wiring errors.
The converter communicates via CAN J1939 (CAN 2.0) with integrated UDS services, providing efficient diagnostics and system communication throughout the vehicle. Its bidirectional operating capability supports both boost and buck modes, as well as high-voltage DC link pre-charging and discharging functions, offering flexibility for a wide range of battery-electric vehicle architectures.
Safety is embedded into the design with functional safety compliance according to ISO 13849 and ISO 25119, supporting system-level applications up to Performance Level c (PL c). Integrated protection functions include overvoltage and undervoltage protection, low-voltage current and voltage monitoring, and safe deactivation capabilities to help ensure secure vehicle operation.
Operating across a high-voltage range of 380 to 870 V DC, with efficiencies of up to 92%, the eLION DC/DC Converter EDCC1 delivers dependable power conversion, high energy efficiency, and robust performance for next-generation electrified off-highway machines.
