A little about the eLION range
The Bosch Rexroth eLION range is a scalable, modular high-voltage and low-voltage electrification platform built for off-highway mobile working machines like construction, agricultural, and forestry vehicles. It covers power outputs from 20 kW to 230 kW (with peak power up to 400 kW) and features robust protection up to IP6K9K. The eLION range is designed with integrated functional safety, and engineered for enhanced productivity and performance.

The eLION Onboard Charger EOBC1
Designed specifically for demanding off-highway applications, the Bosch Rexroth eLION Onboard Charger EOBC1 provides efficient, reliable, and flexible battery charging for diesel-electric, hybrid, and fully electric mobile machines. Combining robust construction, advanced charging communication, and integrated safety features, the EOBC1 enables seamless vehicle electrification while maintaining the durability required for harsh operating environments.
The EOBC1 supports both AC and DC charging infrastructure, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of charging networks and standards. AC communication complies with IEC 61851, SAE J1772, and GB/T 18487.1, while DC charging communication supports ISO 15118 and DIN Spec 70121. Integrated inlet management functions, including temperature monitoring, locking actuator control, and LED management, further simplify charging operations.
Built to withstand challenging off-highway conditions, the charger features protection ratings up to IP6K7 and IP6K9K and operates reliably in temperatures ranging from-40°C to +85°C. Its compact, high-power-density design with single-sided connector access streamlines installation and integration, while poka-yoke connector design and integrated high-voltage interlock (HVIL) technology enhance safety and serviceability.
Advanced CAN J1939 communication with integrated UDS services enables efficient diagnostics, vehicle integration, and component communication. The EOBC1 supports both single-phase and three-phase grid operation, making it suitable for global deployment across different electrical infrastructures. It can also be configured as a stand-alone charger or in slave mode and supports parallel operation of up to four units for increased charging flexibility.
Safety is embedded throughout the design, with functional safety according to ISO 13849 and ISO 25119, supporting system-level performance up to PL c. Built-in protection functions include charging plug monitoring, emergency shutdown, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and temperature monitoring, helping to ensure safe operation throughout the charging process.
With input power ratings up to 22.1 kW, output voltages from 450 to 860 V DC, and efficiencies of up to 95%, the EOBC1 delivers high-performance charging while supporting the transition to cleaner, quieter, and more efficient mobile machinery.
